Saturday 30th July, 1870, Ancient Order of Forresters, Second Annual Demonstration held in Stirling,

“The second annual demonstration of this ancient Order of Foresters, took place in Stirling,” (Last year it took place at Kelso.)
“Singular friendly feeling of all who participated added to the days enjoyment and they were joined by many locals”
“The oldest Court of the Order is Robin Hood ,which was established about three years ago and the principals of the Order have rapidly spread. There are now five courts of the Order;- Robin Hood (Leith); Heart of Midlothian (Edinburgh); Dunedin (Edinburgh);Pride of Midlothian (Dalkeith) and Victoria (Edinburgh”) –with “numbers running close to 800.”
“the excursion party to Stirling numbered upwards of 1,000. The weather was all that could be desired and the prestige gained last year” was “fully sustained –utmost harmony and goodwill prevailing during the whole day.”
“A deputation from Denny Court welcomed the Brethern on their arrival in Stirling. A dinner took place at the Queen’s Hotel, several short addresses were given by several brethern on the objects of the Society - extracts from their General Laws;- “To check and protect the unfortunate, to sympathise with and aid those whom accident or disease may overtake, to dry the cheeks of the mourners, are among their leading objectives of Forestry.
Dancing and games went on in the Kings Park until 7.30, when the train left for Edinburgh , which was safely reached a little after nine”
