To give some idea of the archives available for access, we highlight an example below.
Valentine's Day Cards - Stirling of Gargunnock collection, PD100
The cards shown below belonged to Miss Henrietta Buchanan (1843-1915) . The Archive holds many Valentine's Day cards that were received by Henrietta or 'Etta' (also refered to in correspondence and notebooks as Henny, Hen, Cluck and Henchan) throughout the 1850s and 1860s. We also hold a selection of dance cards from the various society balls she attended.
Henrietta went on to marry Colonel John Stirling (1832 - 1900) in 1871 and together they had seven children - Louisa, Charles, John, James, Henry, Kathleen and Josephine.
