On This Day
Welcome to the ‘On This Day’ page. We aim over time, to build up an accessible store of data about the events, big and small, of Stirling’s past.
We want members and users of the website to contribute articles to ‘On This Day’.
You can email them to us at; [email protected]. You can include text and illustrations. It will help us greatly if your file name starts with the YEAR of the events, with the month and day where appropriate and a word or two about the topic (1848 March 1st Opening of Railway). It might be best to enquire first if you think your contribution might be more than two or three pages or have a lot of illustrations; contributions of more than one page may be split to reduce the need to scroll down the page.
We can’t promise to post items immediately but suitable content will be kept and held over till we are ready to use it, usually around the anniversary of the event itself. Inappropriate content will not be published.
REFERENCES: It is important that you indicate the major sources you are using. For short items these might appear as a list at the end. For longer items you might use footnotes or endnotes as appropriate.
COPYRIGHT: We ask you to make sure that text and illustrations are either your own or that you have permission to use copyright material with a credit to the copyright owner where appropriate. By posting it to us you assign your own copyright to Stirling Local History Society.
