Stirling Local History Society is delighted to launch our latest publication.
Stuart J Campbell, Andy McEwan & Dorothy Wilson, 2018. John Allan, Architect, Stirling (1847-1922), Stirling Local History Society, Stirling (48pp with back-cover foldout map). John Allan remains the most distinctive architect in the Stirling area with buildings such as the former Hay's Music Shop on Friars' Street and the Wolf Craig Building (see illustration). The style and decorative detail sometimes appear quirky - but his use of methods and materials was often innovative. This well-produced and copiously-illustrated text adds substantially to previous knowledge. The publication has been generously supported by Stirling City Heritage Trust and Stirling Council. Copies can be purchased (£6) from Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling Central Library and Abbey Antiques, Friars' Street, Stirling. To order a copy by post (+£2.99 p and p in UK) in the first instance email us at [email protected]. |
